photography 2nd entry: All about worldpress photo

                                                                                           
Today I would like to recommend a website specialized in photography. I know that some of you may be more interested in observing beautiful pictures or learning which angle is the best to take a selfie, but for those who are interested in what's going on around the world: tighten your seatbelt, because you're venturing into a complete new way of discovering the atrocities that humans can make. 
This website is called ‘world press photo’, a platform where they post photos and galleries often related to people. It’s very graphic, some people would say unethical, yet it is also the best way of showing society what’s going on around us. From photos of war and strikes to people sinking in a  sea of oil, these photographies leave nobody indifferent.  

Other galleries and expositions are much more visually appealing, with the aim of showing beauty in it’s purest form. one of my favourites is without doubt the ‘swan serenade’. This collection of photos is not only notorious for the aesthetics due to the landscape, angle of the photo and lightning, but for the story behind the picture, which is explained in detail.


   
 Indeed, what every work guards in common with each other is how the photographer gives us an insight of the photos, making us become more emotionally attached and letting us dive deeper into the story. Some additional information is posted in this website, such as the location, what camera they used, the focal length, shutter speed…

So, if you’re a person who wants to get started with photography and don’t know where to start, these photographs will surely help you to get the inspiration you need!

9.11.01 "the falling man" by Richard Drew On the terrible and disastrous day the world trade center towers fell, Richard Drew was able to capture a still moment. Putting behind the catastrophe that had just happened, he took a simple yet complex photo. A man seconds before his death, free falling into fatality and in complete control of his mind. The picture went viral, it was all over the newspapers and magazines, besides the picture of the explosion the media showed this image, the falling man. Drew knew this was an artistic masterpiece with so much more meaning behind it, yet he could not believe how perfect the shot ended.
