SEBASTIÃO SALGADO

SEBASTIÃO SALGADO

Portrait of
Sebastião Salgado
Sebastião Salgado (1944) was a Brazilian    economist who took his first picture at the age  of 26.
He is one of the most respected photojournalists in the contemporary world. However, he was not expecting to walk his path following that direction.
At the age of 24 he obtained a master in economics. Two years later, he got his hands on a camera and the rest is history.

His work, always in black and white, has let him travel up to a 100 different countries and has been published in several books, being Genesis the most important one, and taken part in many  art exhibitions.

If you haven't been lucky enough to see his work, I'll be leaving here some of his photography, and don't worry, there's always the chance of visiting an online gallery.

Salgado's aim was to make an impact in the people who saw his shots, and concern the world about important issues.
"I hope that the person who visits my exhibitions, and the person who comes out, are not quite the same," he quotes.
