My sources of inspiration

Imagen
When talking about photography, any publication containing pictures can be an interesting source of inspiration. However, there are specific sites and apps more related to the ground of cameras. In my case, these five are my most essential tools to continue learning about the magic of capturing instants. 1. Flickr https://www.flickr.com/ Flickr is a website constituted by a community of users that are allowed to publish, share, tag, save and classify photos according to their interests and preferences. Nowadays, flickr is one of the most important tools for people interested in the world of photography and the reason is no other than the big and varied quantity of pictures that are posted constantly. 2. Instagram https://www.instagram.com/?hl=es Instagram is a top ten social network based on the publication of pictures (that remain on time such as publications or that stay for a brief period of time in the instastories which only last 24 hours). ...

The Falling Man

Imagen
9.11.01 "the falling man" by Richard Drew On the terrible and disastrous day the world trade center towers fell, Richard Drew was able to capture a still moment. Putting behind the catastrophe that had just happened, he took a simple yet complex photo. A man seconds before his death, free falling into fatality and in complete control of his mind. The picture went viral, it was all over the newspapers and magazines, besides the picture of the explosion the media showed this image, the falling man. Drew knew this was an artistic masterpiece with so much more meaning behind it, yet he could not believe how perfect the shot ended. Funny story, Richard Drew did not know about the picture until later, when he saw the photo sequence. How else was he as a journalist going to express what he saw if he did not have that physical evidence, "you can't rely on your memories but you can rely on your pictures" said Josef Koudelka (1960's photographer).  With ...

THE ART OF OBSERVATION

(IT'S)  ALL ABOUT LENSES There's no need to say that when when talking about photography, the lens plays a significant role, if not the most important one. In fact, it is worthy buying better lenses and a cheaper camera. "Which lens should I buy?" you may be asking, and that's a really good question. There's a lot of different ones and you may need one or another depending on what your photographic interests are. Different types of lenses But, before spending money buying a new tool , you should try and learn how to use the one that comes by default.  This is usually the 18-55mm, and despite many people (including photographers) say that it's useless, that is not the case. It may not be the ideal or better lens out there, but if it was and still is created and sold, it definitely has a reason. 18-55mm lens The problem with this lens is that it is not meant to do close-ups or portraits from a short distance. You definitely ...

The most remarkable kiss in History

Imagen
The most famous photo with the kiss that represents the end of the II World War What is the greatest point about photographs is the fact that they sometimes catch moments that reflect an important milestone in History without pretending it. This was a capacity of the photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt (1898-1995), who took memorable photos of artists and instants that remained in time thanks to his vision with the camera.  Without a shadow of doubt, the one in the top of the document is his most famous picture, and also one of the most remarkable in History of photography. It was taken on the 14th of August of 1945, when Japan announced his surrender and the final of the Second World War. The whole America, but specially the crowds of New York threw themselves full of joy to the streets celebrating the end of the conflict. A member of the marine army (George Mendonsa) spontaneously gave a passionate kiss to a nurse, whose identity has been verified to be Greta Zimmer. They di...

Today I would like to recommend a website specialized in photography. I know that some of you may be more interested in observing beautiful pictures or learning which angle is the best to take a selfie, but for those who are interested in what's going on around the world: tighten your seatbelt, because you're venturing into a complete new way of discovering the atrocities that humans can make.  This website is called ‘world press photo’, a platform where they post photos and galleries often related to people. It’s very graphic, some people would say unethical, yet it is also the best way of showing society what’s going on around us. From photos of war and strik...

A pic to die for

Ana Sofía Piña de los Reyes "The Vulture"- Kevin Carter  “I am haunted by the vivid memories of killings & corpses & anger & pain.” The vulture and the little girl, which, as a matter of fact, was actually a boy;  is a photograph that was published in The New York Times, taken by the SouthAfrican reporter, Kevin Carter. The picture won the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography award in 1994 and was chosen as Picture of the Year by The American Magazine. He described it as a "metaphor for Africa's despair".  The New York Times  was contacted by several hundred people to ask if the child had survived. Carter was accused of inhumanity in not helping the child and leaving her vulnerable to attack. The criticism grew when Carter was awarded with the  P ulitzer prize  for the photograph. « This is my most successful image after 10 years of taking pictures, but I do not hang it on my wall. I hate it.  I still regret not havin...

'we keep this love in a photograph'

Imagen
Tudela. January 2017. Sunset in Tudela (my hometown), a shooting star was captured by me in this picture Photography is essential to me for many reasons. Also I strongly believe that photography takes an important role in everyone´s life, firstly because is the best way to collect memories and revive them again. It is said that good moments should be lived twice, and this is what pictures allow us. Some will affirm that best instants can´t be captured by a camera, but our photos reveal what is important to us, in which things we focus. Through the photos we take we express ourselves and we share our personal vision of life and the world. Alcudia, Mallorca. Agust 2014. whenever a travel or an special moment ends, the picture remains to remind us how happy we were.  It´s impossible to keep all our experiences in pictures but everybody loves to take pictures with their beloved ones and in the places they have been happy, so whenever they look at them again, the fe...
