Photography, 1st blog entry







Photography has always been a topic of great interest for me. I like taking pictures, specially of landscapes, however I’ve never had an insight into what exactly photography means so I see this blog as an opportunity of progressively learning, along with the readers, the basics of photography. If I’m being honest, I have no absolute idea about technical concepts of this form of art, so I think It’ll be fun to share the knowledge I get throughout investigation with you.


I've always been interested in telling stories, and people would usually associate this with writing. Don’t get me wrong, I love writing! (I mean, I have a blog) I’m not going to undermine books, but sometimes, as the idiom says: an image is worth a thousand words. Words are powerful, and reading is my passion, however we should be more open minded and realize how illustrations, drawings and pictures can also tell stories, having as a result a great impact on people. 





I view photography as something complex, where there are many details that can make the difference between a disastrous picture and the perfect photo. This blog has the aim of fixing our most common errors and trying to develop our photographic skills.

SEBASTIÃO SALGADO Portrait of Sebastião Salgado Sebastião Salgado  (1944) was a Brazilian    economist who took his first picture at the age  of 26.  He is one of the most respected photojournalists in the contemporary world. The Falling Man

9.11.01 "the falling man" by Richard Drew On the terrible and disastrous day the world trade center towers fell, Richard Drew was able to capture a still moment. Putting behind the catastrophe that had just happened, he took a simple yet complex photo. A man seconds before his death, free falling into fatality and in complete control of his mind. The picture went viral, it was all over the newspapers and magazines, besides the picture of the explosion the media showed this image, the falling man. Drew knew this was an artistic masterpiece with so much more meaning behind it, yet he could not believe how perfect the shot ended.
